Kallang River

Last few photos from that roll of velvia 50, no more left in my ‘bag of tricks’ so today i’m going out to take more. With my friend, Caili!

Have a good start o’ the week!

At my grandfolks'

Here’s another batch of photos from the same roll as the photos in the post below. I used Fuji Velvia 50 and yes, they are cross-processed! Sorry i didn’t comment back earlier, i’ve been the sickest puppy, still am.

Funnily enough, Young recently posted photos of her maternal grandmother and of her home. I was lying in bed reading my rss feeds going oh! oh!.

My maternal grandmother and you can see my grandfather in the background in the kitchen. He’s lost quite a bit of weight which made me a little sad.

Her bathroom

Her room and shirts hanging

The window in my grandfather’s room

Can i say i thought i smelled like laksa after a shower earlier on? My fever’s warped my senses. What’s worse i have to make my way to the post office to drop off a package and i’m gonna time myself just for kicks.

Afternoon Off

Some shots taken one very very warm afternoon, wandering around after lunch, after stopping at the post office, after stationery-shopping.

The last photo was nearing the end of the roll which is probably why the shot turned out halfwayhalf. Worked for this shot tho, so i’m pretty pleased! We ended the afternoon off with a pint each so we’d stop grumbling about the heat.

Film cameras

Top: Coloursplash, Oktomat, Fisheye
Bottom: Talking Polaroid, Split-cam, Smena 8M, Kodak Ektralite 10, Lavec LT-002

These are all the film cameras i’ve amassed for some years now. Maybe amass isn’t appropriate to use since eight doesn’t count for a mass, does it? I avoided the word ‘collected’ because i’m not a collector of cameras. Each of them pretty much find their way into my hands without good reason. The ones i really want are too much money to pay for. So anyway the top row are the first few i started with. They are what i would call “the superficial fun” ones because they’re quite hollow character-wise. For me, that is. Pretty one-note in terms of photo-taking experience and the end result. What i hope for when i shoot with film is absolutely nothing. (It is quite an oxymoron isn’t it.) And shooting with the Coloursplash/Fisheye/Oktomat doesn’t give me that hopelessness.

The two cameras on the bottom right are the ones i recently won on ebay. No one bid on them which makes me feel a little adventurous about them. I only managed to find some examples here and here and here and here. The narrow Kodak uses 110 film, something i’ve never used before. Before i even get excited about taking photos with them, i have to see if they actually work… They might turn out to be trash but let’s hope not. A real case of hopelessness! Anyway since i’m talking about film cameras, i’m gonna take this chance to ask for recommendations or if you’ve used either of my new cameras – how do you like it or not? My rate of exposure to new cameras move at snail pace and i’d like to change that. I’m open to any camera and any story or you can shoot me. (Was that too bad a joke?)

wk34; by Smena

For this week’s photos, i decided to take it up a notch and shoot with my Smena 8M. I am quite hopeless around manual cameras so i was pretty high-strung when i sent the roll for developing, there was a high chance i would have no material for this week. So the easiest way to know if my photos turned out is when the cashier tells me how much to pay. There’s been so many occasions they return me the balance of my deposit, heartbreaking moments. Well not today, i paid so much i was entitled to use my discount card! There are slightly more photos this week so i hope you don’t get bored scrolling.
