On our third day in Krabi, we went on a half day tour to see this emerald pool followed by a natural hot spring. The group of us walked about 800m in the national park and arrived at this!
The emerald pool was beautiful! Like nothing I’ve ever seen. Getting in and out of the pool was treacherous though, gooey algae things all over the rocks. The water nice and cool, soft sand under our feet. I can’t even begin to fathom how something like this exists in the middle of nowhere.
Moving on, we made our way to the hot spring. Also made a friend – we gave him the name Mr Denver Nuggets (the one with the blue towel and hat) – cos duh, he’s from Denver! Anyway I knew I’d regret not asking him for his name or, introducing ourselves… I need to get better at that. I.don’t.know.what.I’m.afraid.of.really.
A hot spring! Once again, in the middle of nowhere!
I’m not sure if you can make it out that people are soaking themselves in these smallish ponds. The water was hot, no shite. It was awesome, out in the open like that. Maybe zap away 10-15 people and it would have been really really awesome.

You might be wondering what ‘Chi Ba Bom’ means, it’s a Singlish way (Singaporean English) of saying Explosion! This was taken at Artistry, p.s..
Well now, I am off to Krabi for some sun sand and sea! Be on Instagram!

I try to seek out nice food every now and then. I thought TOOTHSOME could be a feature of establishments that sell some delicious food and also succeeded at delivering their concept/spirit/ambition through a bite of my pie or a sip of my latte. Did that make sense? So I have three places in this post, each I enjoyed very much.
Artistry
What’s great? They sell Windowsill Pies here. The pies are amazing. The amount of light that fills the space! I could have sat there all day.
Croute
What’s great? The sandwiches! Ok you might not know this but croute means crust in french. My serrano & mozzarella panini was scrumptious! Also, I love me a deli concept.
Bummer? The coffee.
Nylon Coffee Roasters
What’s great? Can I say EVERYTHING! I know at times, you go to a place and if the stars don’t align, it can be a disaster. Bad service, noisy neighbours at the next table, peak hour slam, ordered the wrong thing, any one of these occurs – Boom! Easily leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Well my latte was awesome. Strong, check. Frothy, check. Not overpriced, check. It is known Nylon isn’t so much a cafe but a shopfront for coffee to-go. Still, Ben & I lingered for awhile, listening in on a conversation going on with some customers and the owners. Watched a baby crumple her face only to smile again, over and over. Now do you believe me when I say EVERYTHING?
Till the next TOOTHSOME!

My mom, dad and Ben at the airport waiting for our pickup
Ximending – good for Ah Chung Mee Sua and not much else
This is actually Koi! Just branded under a different name in Taipei. Best combination for me was milk tea with small pearls while Ben liked his with small pearls and pudding.
We walked a lot in the day and these are some of sights I saw
This is The Wall in Gongguan district. Live bands/DJs/gigs/good crowd! Not that you can see any of that happening in the photo – we always arrive early to everything
Tons of shops in the Zhongxiao Fuxing area, really liked Artifacts.
Yongkang St is a foodie’s heaven! However, I was very taken by the number of adults and kids playing in this small (concrete) park in the dim light.
I only went to two night markets, the famous Shihlin and this Raohe one. Roahe’s has like a bajillion of their local food! Definitely preferred the atmosphere here too.
That about wraps up my photos of Taipei. Tomorrow I am off to KL with my family and relatives to visit some of our relatives, all of whom I’ve never met my whole life. Oh boy!

Ok I need you to do something for me before we get to the photos. Picture me on a bicycle, camera over my neck and my backpack in the basket in front of me. Ben waiting in front and sometimes behind me to finish snapping. That’s the narrative behind these photos 🙂
R.Y. left a comment suggesting Danshui (among other things) for some cycling and view of the sea. We rented bicycles while my parents ate their way through the shops along the waterfront. Apparently fish balls are their specialty here!
45 minutes of cycling later, we reached Fisherman’s Wharf. Ate the sushi we packed and headed back to meet my parents again. I didn’t snap photos of the Old Streets of Danshui as we were weaving through traffic. It was crazy crowded and looked like a lot of fun too.
