For you, Monday

The new home is awesome and because there’s much more corners to sit at and a million other things to do, time in front of the computer has been scarce. These are the remaining photos from my last roll of film, it was nice going through them as some were taken near my previous home, and the one of diamonds – that was taken while apartment-hunting. Feels like we’ve come full circle.

Quiet blue

Sometimes i don’t know what to say alongside my photos. What i do know is that i’ve been having nightmares of ghosts, of haunted houses, of evil people for many nights. What’s up with that you ask? No clue, i haven’t been watching no scary movies.

It’s F1 weekend! I’m camping out in front of the telly and taking a bullet to the heart every time the commentators remark how dirty and dusty the tracks are. Have fun at the tracks if you’re there, soak up the adrenalin for me!

One Sad Lonely

Taken with my Lavec LT-002, with Kodak Ektachrome 64. This is actually my first time using slides which means it’s also my first time cross-processing my film. I’m not a big fan of cross-processing because sometimes that’s just about it about a photo, vibrant whack colours. But when it’s done right, crazy colours making an already excellent photo even better – ace.

I can’t say much about my experiment with the Ektachrome + cross-processing because ah, four miserable photos turned out and i only like this one enough to put it up. I don’t know if it’s the camera, or me, or bad light but i have to say i’m a wee bit dejected. Anyhow i just bought quite a bit of new film & am hoping to win my bid on a manual camera. We’ll see where this all takes me. I had a fleeting thought of shooting exclusively with film at some point the other day. Yah and it fled real quick, haha.

Film cameras

Top: Coloursplash, Oktomat, Fisheye
Bottom: Talking Polaroid, Split-cam, Smena 8M, Kodak Ektralite 10, Lavec LT-002

These are all the film cameras i’ve amassed for some years now. Maybe amass isn’t appropriate to use since eight doesn’t count for a mass, does it? I avoided the word ‘collected’ because i’m not a collector of cameras. Each of them pretty much find their way into my hands without good reason. The ones i really want are too much money to pay for. So anyway the top row are the first few i started with. They are what i would call “the superficial fun” ones because they’re quite hollow character-wise. For me, that is. Pretty one-note in terms of photo-taking experience and the end result. What i hope for when i shoot with film is absolutely nothing. (It is quite an oxymoron isn’t it.) And shooting with the Coloursplash/Fisheye/Oktomat doesn’t give me that hopelessness.

The two cameras on the bottom right are the ones i recently won on ebay. No one bid on them which makes me feel a little adventurous about them. I only managed to find some examples here and here and here and here. The narrow Kodak uses 110 film, something i’ve never used before. Before i even get excited about taking photos with them, i have to see if they actually work… They might turn out to be trash but let’s hope not. A real case of hopelessness! Anyway since i’m talking about film cameras, i’m gonna take this chance to ask for recommendations or if you’ve used either of my new cameras – how do you like it or not? My rate of exposure to new cameras move at snail pace and i’d like to change that. I’m open to any camera and any story or you can shoot me. (Was that too bad a joke?)
