A story about flowers: a few years ago, on my birthday, I received some lilies as well as a nice expensive-ish kitchen knife for presents. Back then, we were living in a tiny space, no obvious division between kitchen/dining/living kind of small space. I had the lilies in a glass bottle next to the sink, and next to the glass bottle next to the sink was my drying rack where the knife was resting to dry. Indie (our cat) jumped onto the kitchen sink, I was standing there and got a nice fright. I jerked and somehow caused the lilies to fall onto the knife. The lilies were in bloom and its yellow pollen pollinated the knife, entirely. Birthday flowers killed birthday knife…
Since then, I’m not fond of lilies. Or having flowers in vessels. Pollenphobia. Am open to potted plants tho.

This is inside the Cloud Forest conservatory at Gardens by the Bay. It’s pretty amazing what they did with the place. Closeups to come!

Here are two cafes that really impressed me with their delicious food and smooth lattes. Carpenter and Cook on the top and Henry Congressional below.

We got free tickets to go see the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix sometime in September. It was super thrilling and super loud. Just in case you noticed the car in the third photo, it’s a Ferrari instead of a F1 race car. They hold races for other categories of cars as well (who knew!). The F1 car was way too fast for my lens – evident in the second photo, haha.

We stayed at Nicky’s Handlebar Hotel this time while in Phuket. We loved the room, the pool and the service. There’s a very consistent motorcycle theme throughout the place which thankfully didn’t feel tacky. I had reservations before booking our room, believe me!
Anyway I’m super keen on visiting Phi Phi island, maybe next year. Has anyone been there? I would love to hear recommendations!
