A kite has taken over our lives

Yes. We spend way too many afternoons and evenings at the park now. I’m sunburnt and sporting an ugly tanline cos I had my sunnies on. Apart from that, I wish the park is bigger cos it seems a lot of people like flying kites too, and playing Ultimate Frisbee and soccer and playing fetch with their dogs and there’s simply not enough space for everyone. Half the time strings get tangled and oh, I neglected our kite and it got stuck in a tree for awhile, did I mention I suck at it?

The photos are from two different days, kite-flying-days.

We met this older guy who’s pretty knowledgeable about kites and he taught us that this is called the delta shape and also the easiest type to fly.

    this is so cool!
scott has two kites in his car trunk waiting to go but it’s never windy enough here (or really rainy). i think i’m going to give it a try, too!!! this makes me go outside and get off the computer!!

I spot the Kanken! Kite-flying looks fun, it’s taking over all possible green fields in Singapore!

Parks are dangerous, sometimes I even think that safety helmets should be provided on entry hehe

Lovely pictures!! I used to love flying kites as well, you should try ECP! The wind there’s TOTALLY awesome and not much people there fly kites. Anyway, I totally thought the 6th photo was of a real bird and was trying to figure out what the hell was thing trailing after it. Hahaha

Great pictures, kite-flying is so much fun! My favourite one as a kid was one with a unicorn printed one it…it got torn and I was too sad to continue after that, haha!

I’d just like to tell you how much I like and appreciate your blog. I’m regularly checking for updates and it’s made me smile so often. Thank you and much unknown love from Berlin :)
(Normally I’d probably be too shy to comment to a stranger but I’m challenging myself with “101 ways to develop your mind” - I recommend checking it, there’re lots of useful inspirations!)

I love that you fly kites. It looks like such a good way to spend the evening after work. We used to as kids, but maybe I’ll go out and find myself a kite now:)

Thanks for noticing my perfectly tiered outfit descriptions. I’m actually kind of a dork about making sure they’re aligned well. Its nice that somebody noticed.

How cute! I can’t tell you how appealing a kite-flying sunburn sounds right now! Can you send some of that warm sunshine over to Seattle for me? : )

awww i’ve never flown a kite before..but i just started singing that song in my head from the Sound of Music. hahaha do yknow which one im talking about??

I know what you mean about parks being overcrowded these days, gosh you go to the park to have space but in the end you get in the way of some cycling kids/kite-flying dads and sons/picnic-ing families.

I’m sure you’ll get better at kite-flying with some practice… It’s still fun, despite the tangles and stuff, no? :)

I remember I used to have this cheap Superman kite that I used to fly around my garden with my sis… the feeling in your heart when the kite soarshigh - irreplaceable :)

oh, silly me… was going to ask where you got the fjallraven backpack from? :)

You’re making me miss my childhood days! I’ll be running non-stop with the kite behind me hoping that it’ll somehow keep flying when I stop!

LOTS of people flying kites around the Punggol/Sengkang area. Big spaces all around. Even saw the ones which light up at night!

Hey Melly! My fingers are okay now, but they did hurt on Wednesday night. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to practice again yet. Tomorrow…or errr, later today I’m giong to get to it. The fingering is so hard, but I’m trying to think of it as a language. That I’m learning the letters now that will make words (hopefully soon) and eventually songs. Yeah, it would be great to become a song-writer and perform, but I have an intense stage fright….then again, I’ve heard Tracyanne Campbell used to throw up before performances….but yeah, I’m getting way ahead of myself here. Thanks for the comment!
