I spent some time with my brother dearest and lil sister yesterday; we did lunch at Brewerkz followed by the Singapore River Cruise. My sister loves the boat ride so we pretended to be tourists and hopped on. I was snapping away with film so expect to see touristy singapore photos soon! Come evening, i was going to see The Unguarded Moment by Steve McCurry at ACM - it’s part of the Month of Photography Asia. So i put on something a little nice and drew my lips red.

80s Black Mini Dress from Liebemarlene Vintage, Briefcase Bag from Estate Sale, Sheer Hearts Sock from Betsey Johnson and Black Ballet Flats from StudioTangs
Onto the exhibition, (my bf didn’t take many photos due to the large crowd)

The famed ‘Afghan Girl’ - which i didn’t know anything about before i got there :}

The man himself, Steve McCurry, on the right. What a life he has lived, this man.
I’m not gonna say much about his photos, i’ve stopped trying to give my point of view on art because i know what i feel when i see each of them but haven’t got enough eloquence to put it into words. The colours on every of his photos is stunning though, stunning. Apparently his prints are printed using an Epson so i’m leaning towards an Epson now, when the time comes to buy a large-scale printer.
{Thanks Nabs for getting me to go!}

Nice dress! My mom has a polka dot dress from the 70s which I wanted to take over from her but she REFUSES to give it to me because she thinks it’s ugly and if I wear it around ‘people will see it and think your mother is old fashioned and has bad taste’!!!
You (or Ben?) got Professor Tommy Koh in the last photo! I used to have a big big crush on that man. I think I still do. x
i’m so jealous that you got to meet steve mccurry irl! i’m a big fan of his photography.
damn, loving the bag! and that afghan girl’s eyes are haunting…
ah i love the one with the little monks.
and btw, it’s studiotangs
Y: Ha!! I cannot imagine an ugly polka dotted dress really, steal it from her!
Likkle Girl: Ben did, he was the guest-of-honour for the night. You had a crush on him!!! Well i did tell a friend of mine that night that he’s rather cute - she gave me the eye. Prof Tommy Koh mentioned during his speech how Singaporean men are obedient husbands & his wife was there so he said something like, i don’t have girlfriend ok? I was like ??!!??!!!! LOL.
plastiqgurl: yikes i must have sounded like a mother saying tangs studio.
i love exhibits. i would have loved to see this.
your dress is so cute!
Thank you for that little Professor titbit, Meowly!
He’s quite a man - very down-to-earth and a fountain of knowledge of all art-y and pop culture-related things (which I find very attractive in a man)…a dream dinner party guest. Has hot sons too. Hee. x
You know the famed afghan girl? The photographer went back years later and tracked her down and took a follow up picture of her.

If I could have made that dress look that cute I would have kept it!
That bag’s wonderful too, and those socks!!
Oh snaps … intended to go for this exhibition. Never ask me along! =P
Wow! The picture of the monks at Angkor are entirely amazing. That must have been an enormous wide angle lens. Some people are so talented.
Your polka dot dress is very I Love Lucy. but body con and interesting!
you look so, SO lovely! wow. please allow me to steal the socks idea! xD too cute. the ‘afghan girl’ is so stunning, so haunting! i’m not a big art lover but i am really quite struck by this piece.
Hehe, I never knew much about Tommy Koh, but after hearing him speak, I have to say, I was rather charmed!
Sarah, the exhibition is ongoing till July 19th at the ACM! Although I’m afraid Steve McCurry won’t be there this time.
Melly, glad you enjoyed it! And you went to Lasalle too!
You look so fantastic! I especially like the sheer socks with those flats.
The exhibition looks fantastic. I have admired his photographs in National Geographic (which is actually probably my favorite mag…).
Hey melly! i finally got around to coming here and i must say u looked so cute that day in the polka dress!
it was nice meeting u! =)
ooh! i love his photography!! how wonderful to get to see it up close.
