Etsy Finds – replicca

Etsy and eBay are my favourite places to be online so no surprises that i bring you another interesting find from Etsy.

Replicca sells handmade garments in their own original designs and what i love about their pieces is the familiarity of vintage wear, in the fabrics used and some of the silhouettes.

Left to right (clockwise): The Blue Wonder, Blue and Red Plaid Babydoll, Lemonade Parade, All You Want I’m Not Listening in Yellow

I’ve been seeing alot of vintage ‘inspired’ clothes and most of them are disappointing. I reckon using a floral fabric does not equate to it being a vintage dress. What i love about vintage wear is the cut and curves of it. Well of cos alot of times, the dresses i get off eBay don’t fit me like second skin but after simple alterations, it hugs my body where it should. And this is what i find is lacking in alot of clothing these days. This one entry on decades and body types by the lovely Rhiannon of Liebemarlene Vintage taught me a little more on the different eras of vintage wear. I still get confused but i guess little by little, i’d get the hang of it.

Reprodepot New Arrivals

Some nice fabric that caught my eye. I should really get down to learning how to sew at least something.

Twist on the Gladiator Sandals

I thought these were really cute, from Indie Cult Vintage. I’ve bought two pairs of shoes online, one fit and the other was a flop. Luckily i managed to sell that pair away. So i kinda restrain myself from buying shoes online (for now at least) before i get better at judging whether it’d fit me.

Mama Stone Vintage

I’ve been a lurker-in-the-shadows ebayer when it comes to Mama Stone Vintage for at least two years, watching and coveting for their pretty dresses. Thing is the bids often go up to the hundreds and way out of my budget considering i have to add on international shipping and a weaker currency. Makes bidding quite a nightmare. Well i check back almost all the time and tonight i found more than two dresses that i would love to have.

And a wayyy cute plaid wool jacket.

Amazing John Galliano

I’ve been trying to follow fashion blogs as well as style.com this entire Fall/Winter 2008 and I don’t know how to comment much on trends and such but so far, I was going gaga over the stuff from Chloe, Gucci and McQueen. I meant to do a post on the Chloe show but i didn’t so when i saw the John Galliano collection last night, i thought i’d put up my favourites!

The work on hair and makeup is stunning. The attention to the hair and head pieces was what caught my eye. The gold paint in the first picture, it made me smile. And i love how they painted on the curvy hairline. The cream frosting turban in the second picture and the feathers for hair, i don’t know what to say but i love it all. It’s already inspiring me in terms of illustrated thoughts in my head.

And i’m digging the pastel tights and their unlikely colour combinations with the clothes. Whenever i see colours exercised like that, i get very intrigued. Mainly because like many, i’m timid when it comes to clashing colours. I hope these imagery i see seep into my subconsciousness and come alive when i’m picking out new clothes.
