Last weekend i found the time to watch The Virgin Suicides. I’m usually more of a print than screen person but the magic about film for me is the wardrobe. When i read the book (many years ago), imagining what the Lisbon sisters would be dressed in never occurred to me. Yeah that was a baggy-jean-wearing-Melly with track shoes. Well i was particularly charmed by Cecilia in the film, pretty ironic cos i was attracted to Lux’s character in the book. I’m blaming her lace dress because that’s all i can think about since that night. That’s all i search for on ebay. There’s no way i can pull off her innocence so i’m not even gonna try but this girl’s going into my book of girls – Wednesday Addams, Gwen Stefani (her No Doubt days), Claire Danes in R+J and so on…
If you’ve been like “whuut?’ during the whole chunk above, sorry!, here are some stills from the film. It’s all of Cecilia and her dress. I love it, i love how she wears it all the time and it’s grannyish but with some urg-yeah grunge rebellion thing going on. I don’t know, her boredom with life must give her more attitude.

I also put these together, some pieces to recreate Cecilia’s look.

1, 2, 4, 5 – i cant seem to find the cape on topshop.com but it’s selling for $99 if anyone’s asking.

I suspect my senses have been altered by some peculiar, yet-to-be-defined force. For about two weeks now, i haven’t been floored by anything on ebay. The items on my watch-list are there for the sake of. What i do want are things i cannot afford and i dislike that of me right now. I was surfing La Garconne for abit and don’t laugh when i say deep down, this is what i want to walk out of my door in everyday, ideally, if i could, if only i could, even for a week, okay just four days since i pulled out four items.

United Bamboo, Rag & Bone, 3.1 Philip Lim, A.Wang. Click on the image if you want to go on to the site while i wallow in self-pity.

I’ve been all over the place the past few days so the last thing on my mind was to be posting here. But there’s been this obsession, okay no it can’t be called an obsession – more like, a new love – for clothing made from denim. The only denim i own come in the form of jeans, shorts and skirts. And they’re as normal as it can get, you know? The first thought that comes to mind when you think denim mini skirt. (I’m outlining the shape with my fingers as i type this) It’s just blah. For me, to consider a denim jacket is a whole new level of sophistication i’m not sure i have in me. Does that make sense?
So i’ve been adding all these delicious denim pieces to my bookmarks and probably not gonna do anything about it… for now. I want to share some, so if you’re feeling like denim, come rock this boat with me.

Been awhile since i did one of these – Well muskokavintage has been on my etsy favourites for awhile now, partly cos they take really good photos of their clothes. It’s like the moment they step out of their houses, they’re greeted by the sea or fields of nothingness. I would kill for that, frankly. Sometimes i have so much envy for bloggers like Alix, Sally Jane, Effie, The Clothes Horse and Taghrid (just to name a few), i swear they live in paradise or something.
I’m going home for a week to sister-sit, i’ll have a slight change in environment, nothing drastic but i miss my white walls! Can’t leave these out, here are some photos from muskokavintage and isn’t that teal swimsuit the cutest thing? Yeah they make it look so good there, if i were to wear to a public pool, i’ll look like a complete looney.

It is quite clear that i’m hardly an accessory person, i did my time when i was younger and fell out of it soon after. But i enjoy them on people, it sure as hell takes a certain kind of effort to rake them in, mix & match and take them off. You gotta admit that one, taking them off is quite a hassle. Well despite me not being big on add-ons, i’ve been scouring etsy for head gears lately. The recent launch of ban.do is all over the internet and i suspect that ignited this crave for some feathers in my hair! Plus a downer of having short hair is not being able to do much with it y’know, my options are 1) blowdry 2) don’t blowdry.
I’m not sure how the idea of feathers came about – the first i saw was the piece from Bona Drag, made known by way of Dreamecho. Kennedyholmes also does a different take with hers. I found a couple of etsy sellers with similar versions and some others a little less flamboyant.

1. From GaiaTroveChicago 2. From maryjanefrances 3. From VieModerne 4. From thecandythief, she makes her head bands out of felt which definitely makes it look more abstract 5. From creativeyarn 6. From sewsephine
Another popular seller is charmschooldesign (not pictured) and her shop is by far my favourite to browse through. I’m not sure how i can incorporate these into my dressing but it’s something i’d like to try.
