If you're gonna tell it, tell it right

Some things that caught my eye at a Lasalle (grad?) show some months back.

Heavily nocturnal

spaghetti bolognese

spaghetti bolognese

I made bolognese sauce last week – a lot of it – because I’ve become a freezer meal person. I took the recipe and freezer meal idea from Real simple, I’ve uploaded a copy of it here. Remember to write the date down! (Same with all the ant & cockroach baits! Which I never do. And sorry for mentioning cockroaches when talking about food.)

Anyway if cooking isn’t your thing, here’s some worthy links to check out:
• New on The Selby; Rockaway Taco – I want to be a customer there or better yet, their homie!
Street art at Pioneer Square in Seattle, the one of the hand… j.a.w.d.r.o.p.p.i.n.g
• Scroll down half the page to see some seriously good camera porn

I’m running late, I have to get ready and buy some shizz from the supermarket before heading to my folks’ for dinner and catch the National Day Parade on telly. It’s Singapore’s 45th birthday today!! Why I’m excited I don’t know!!!

Miss Williams

Watched The Baxter last night, I think it was Diana who wrote about it many moons ago and I noted it down for some reason. It’s quite a funny film and the way it’s shot and the dialogue made the film feel old although it was released in 2005. I captured some stills of Michelle Williams’s character’s wardrobe choices which I loved and evoked dreamy thoughts of Madeleine, Lyell and wearing adult versions of little girl’s clothing.

I’m lovin’ her hair too – the colour and her cute slightly puffy side-swept bangs. Ahhh, gimme gimme.

Goody start to your work week, school week!

Candy

Tonight i watched the film, Candy. The story is sad quite mortifying even excruciating at times but bearable to sit through because the leads are such beautiful faces. It’s seldom i take notice of movie sets when the script revolves around drugs + young lovers but this one had patterns nice textiles all over the scenes for you to peek your eyes at. I captured some stills to share, and if you would, share some films you enjoyed and think i would as well?

“We had a lot going for us. We’d found the secret glue that held all things together. Where the noise did not intrude. Our world was so very complete.”

You should watch Wendy and Lucy too. One of those silently loud types, makes you want to jump into the screen to help her because you can’t sit and watch in pain anymore.

Some Things

***

1. Nogoodforme’s “Beautifully Worn”

Laura Jane of nogoodforme was very nice to extend the invite to me to send in a photo of me and my most favourite item. In the photo above, you can try and spot me. Haha can you? I’m there on the top right!

The exhibition is held at Clarabella in my favourite city in the world. If you’re in the city, pop by 279 E. Houston St., it runs till the end of November. And you can see more photos of the exhibit here, and if you’d like to see my photo in a larger version, it’s here.

2. Unlikely inspiration

3. Revolutionary Road

This is how i want to live when i grow up and old. That aside, this is a photoshoot for Revolutionary Road.
I have to watch this film, oh and Synecdoche, New York and Wendy and Lucy.
