The table’s all set, yes, mock my mismatched cups! We’re having a dinner party at our place tonight and we really only clean the house when people come over, we’re gross! I cross my fingers I didn’t over-salt the fish and that no cats jump onto the table. That dinner goes smoothly and we ring in the new year a little tipsy.
I don’t know what to make of 2010 being tomorrow. I had a good run this 2009 but I could do a lot better. The only resolution I’m making is to stick with running twice a week! I can do that, you can do that, Melly. What are some of yours? Maybe I could get inspired because I really don’t like to dig deep and think about these things.
So I’ll see you folks in 2010, a toast to the last day of the year, wherever you’ll be! x

Believe me I’m writing this with as much happiness and joy for this tremendous day called Christmas. The hours leading up to now, which isn’t many considering I only woke up at 4PM. It has been one boo-boo after another!

First, we wanted to do a miniature picnic party for Ada and we went supermarketing at 2AM last night. Miniature cos she’s mini right. So I woke up at 4 and prepped the food.

Tiny egg! I couldn’t help but think ‘dinosaurrrrr’ as I was peeling it. I was so happy you have no idea how happy I was and I was about to take a shower then IT RAINS!!
Mmmhmm.

I finally let the idea of the picnic go. Wanted to put on my new red lipstick – christmas gift from my mom – and after getting my lips painted perfectly, oh I go ahead to drop it and destroy the tip and splatttt my mirror and STAIN MY SHIRT!! MOMMMMY!!!!!
Well I’m in a new shirt now and we’re going for a dim sum dinner. Nevertheless, MERRY CHRISTMAS you guys! Good food, good people, good times!

Following up with my previous post on my mission to find me a suitable sewing machine, well, it turned out both good and bad – as most situations and dilemmas in life pans out.
Here’s a recap of what my mission was:
Industry: Retail {Electronics}
Mission details: I want to get educated on the different types of sewing machines out there in the market. As a beginner, I’m definitely looking for something pretty entry-level but not too basic. But more importantly I want to find out the difference between a serger and an overlock sewing machine, what are the factors I should be considering – maybe someone who sews clothing and someone who makes curtains require different types of machines? In my head I’m thinking of how I’ve come to learn to choose between a DSLR and a point-and-shoot camera, I’ve learnt what to look out for and what I have to compromise on. So with this mission, I’m really hoping to get in tuned with sewing machines!
Service skill to test: Knowledge of product and possibly personal experience
Estimated expense (SGD): $0 because I’m window shopping!
Read about the outcome on the Are You Being Served? website.

Here are some photos of the nicer, less cluttered parts of our home. The house came fully furnished so I cannot take any credit for how the house looks actually. The only credit I can take is finding this gem among a sea of dirty ‘dying’ houses! We are renters so given our budget, coming across a house like this is very rare. Less talk, more photos, now come on in!

Our living area which leads into the kitchen

Mirror that’s behind our couch

The tv console, my boyfriend’s electric guitar

Indie with her new bling collar

Fatboy prefers sleeping on chairs meant for humans

She & Him poster I got from Poster Cabaret

Our home office
So I still have one unopened box containing frames and prints that haven’t found its way onto the walls yet. Ben and I are having decorating differences at the moment, haha. I’m a colour and clutter queen whereas he’s a clean, monochromatic colours sort of guy. I’ll wait a while more, when the ‘new home’ novelty feeling fades off… he won’t be arsed to fight me anymore!

We had great plans to surprise her at midnight. We thought our plan was pretty solid. When we pulled up to her house, our dear she-should-be-asleep-because-she-has-to-work-early-tomorrow birthday girl was watching telly in the living room (she could see us coming from her couch).

But! We all got to be gnomes for the night so everyone was happy!

That’s Chris(tine), myself, Mel the birthday gnome and Farah
So we ate cake and watched the finale of Prison Break, and Top Chef Season 1 after. Calculated that we’re one decade old friends. So old when you put it like that. A decade, yikes.
P.S. We missed you Sham!
{Edit: Some of you misread, i know even our own friends confuse us – mel, melly. It was Melanie’s birthday! Mine’s next month :9}
