Friday is iPhone4 day

iPhone 4!

Yayyy! New phone means no more dealing with my unresponsive iPhone3G!

I am dead pooped, off to shower and plop into bed. Be back tomorrow my friends!

Sponsor: Uniiko Vintage

I’m thrilled to have Nicole’s shop, Uniiko Vintage, as one of our sponsors for the month! Uniiko Vintage has a delightful new shopfront and some great blazers in store right now. If that isn’t up your alley, you could swing by Nicole’s Thrift Store instead. She’s got real love for her fashion (and living life) so you might want to check her blog too, it’s a good read.

Mention ‘GREENLAUNDRY’ during checkout and receive free local shipping within Singapore!

Couch potaytoe

couch potato for the next month

World Cup season has begun! The opening match between South Africa and Mexico ended awhile ago, ended in a draw. If you’re watching the games too, who are you supporting this 2010? I’m rooting for Spain!

Look at my biggy

I had a nice night hanging with Sarah and my boyfriend. Always good to see her face.

So on my way home, at the junction of the traffic light, I saw a teeny cat’s face peering out from inside a drain and it was the absolute most perfect shot in my head. Which never materialized of course, camera-was-in-the-bag-situation, pffft. Came home to find the whole clan of stray kitties hanging out altogether under the block, it’s been awhile since they were all one so I snapped a few of the matriarch, I call her Fei Fei.

Feifei the matriarch

She maybe hefty in size but hell, she chases (my cat, Indie) like a young one! I’ve grown to love her over the past few months. She’s such a sweetheart and she looks out for her fellow kitties like a giant mama. She deserves every awww you have to give. There was one morning where I told Ben that I wanted to move downstairs to be with the stray cats instead of living with my own cranky cats. For real, some days my cats just don’t give two shites about me!

P.S. Sarah, I also took Feifei’s picture to rival E’s cat! They could be two fat peas in a pod!

Red hot!

colander!

So pleased. With my new colander. I’ve been eyeing it for months and y’day, I saw it on super sale. Had to take it home with me! My brother got one for my mom too but hers is a grimy green (or “ahma” green as my brother coined it), hahaha!

bozos

Friday ended on a crappy note. Nothing bad happened or anything you’re immediately thinking of though, so don’t you fret one bit now! Short story short, I met big bad wolves today. And it clearly left a number of bad afterthoughts. Well boo to that. Anyway I took some silly shots using La PhotoCabine, something Katrina introduced to me. The narrator speaks in French but I think you folks are savvy enough to figure the steps out.

I’m gonna watch the final episode of Project Runway S7 after typing this, eating a bowl of edamame and a beer. Followed by some arm exercises! I do that watching tv all the time, yes. And then I’m gonna kiss Fatboy good night and jump into bed.

Five days later

This is a pretty old photo, taken about two months ago. We haven’t gone kite-flying in a while now but the park, the park has converted Ben & I to become serial park people, haha! Ask me one year ago and I’ll probably not join you at the park. Anyway, I had this random thought earlier - what if someone got killed at the park? Would I dare go there again? Can’t say why it came to mind, could be all the Criminal Minds I’ve been watching. And you don’t even have to answer it… I’m just putting it out there.

Picnic #1

In March, I went to a total of three picnics but got mad drunk at one. So is the one where we surprised a birthday girl, drank too much and ended up rolling on the grass by the lake. But we timed it well, the sun was setting pretty quickly.

Nabs, Squid and Sherms

The birthday girl, Shal

Twigsisters - Sherms and Christine

I can’t remember who took the last two photos, it’s weird there are light leaks cos this camera never lets that happen. Strange, cues The X-Files theme song.

Has anyone ordered and gotten hold of the iPad yet, how’s it integrating into your life? My boyfriend’s anticipating his like crazy and telling me all these things about it so I wanna know if you have it! Then I can have stories too, it’s been a one-way conversation that ends with eyeballs rolling thus far heh.

No proof

I had a pretty awesome weekend but have no photos to show for it. I snapped a couple here and there and I’ll try to fill in the blanks with words maybe?

Friday night, a few of us attended a friend’s brother’s wedding.

Farah went disco-gaga with her glowstick-glasses

They planted a photobooth for guests to take silly faces for keeps

Mel, myself and Farah; too much food, too much whiskey and not enough bread pudding for me later

Saturday, I found myself in the East but was fed very nice cheng teng (a kind of dessert) so it wasn’t so bad.

Sunday afternoon, we went to Mel’s place for Easter Sunday lunch!

Her sister taught us how to make our own mock mojitos, delicioso

We ate laksa and rolled our own popiah

And watched re-runs of American Idol and Glee and popiahs became kueh pie tees and afternoon left and evening came around so it was time to go home.

Been up to

• watching movies on the computer
• reading till my eyes hurt
• gave the bathrooms a good scrub down
• and photo evidence of eating microwave popcorn

April Fool’s tomorrow, watch out, be careful!

First time

Today, I had my first time at buying loose stalks of basil, strangely enough. Flowers included. It never crossed my mind that basil would be sold at the wet market, I don’t know why, but yeah I never thought so. The only form of basil I knew came in a plastic container sold at Cold Storage. So excuse me if I sound super silly but this is awesome!

Last dinner of 2009

all set

The table’s all set, yes, mock my mismatched cups! We’re having a dinner party at our place tonight and we really only clean the house when people come over, we’re gross! I cross my fingers I didn’t over-salt the fish and that no cats jump onto the table. That dinner goes smoothly and we ring in the new year a little tipsy.

I don’t know what to make of 2010 being tomorrow. I had a good run this 2009 but I could do a lot better. The only resolution I’m making is to stick with running twice a week! I can do that, you can do that, Melly. What are some of yours? Maybe I could get inspired because I really don’t like to dig deep and think about these things.

So I’ll see you folks in 2010, a toast to the last day of the year, wherever you’ll be!  x

Merry Chrismassy!

Believe me I’m writing this with as much happiness and joy for this tremendous day called Christmas. The hours leading up to now, which isn’t many considering I only woke up at 4PM. It has been one boo-boo after another!

2AM supermarketing

First, we wanted to do a miniature picnic party for Ada and we went supermarketing at 2AM last night. Miniature cos she’s mini right. So I woke up at 4 and prepped the food.

miniature egg

Tiny egg! I couldn’t help but think ‘dinosaurrrrr’ as I was peeling it. I was so happy you have no idea how happy I was and I was about to take a shower then IT RAINS!!

Mmmhmm.

Russian Red

I finally let the idea of the picnic go. Wanted to put on my new red lipstick - christmas gift from my mom - and after getting my lips painted perfectly, oh I go ahead to drop it and destroy the tip and splatttt my mirror and STAIN MY SHIRT!! MOMMMMY!!!!!

Well I’m in a new shirt now and we’re going for a dim sum dinner. Nevertheless, MERRY CHRISTMAS you guys! Good food, good people, good times!

Are You Being Served Part 2

Following up with my previous post on my mission to find me a suitable sewing machine, well, it turned out both good and bad - as most situations and dilemmas in life pans out.

Here’s a recap of what my mission was:
Industry:
Retail {Electronics}
Mission details: I want to get educated on the different types of sewing machines out there in the market. As a beginner, I’m definitely looking for something pretty entry-level but not too basic. But more importantly I want to find out the difference between a serger and an overlock sewing machine, what are the factors I should be considering - maybe someone who sews clothing and someone who makes curtains require different types of machines? In my head I’m thinking of how I’ve come to learn to choose between a DSLR and a point-and-shoot camera, I’ve learnt what to look out for and what I have to compromise on. So with this mission, I’m really hoping to get in tuned with sewing machines!
Service skill to test: Knowledge of product and possibly personal experience
Estimated expense (SGD): $0 because I’m window shopping!

Read about the outcome on the Are You Being Served? website.
