Teehee

Check out my hamburger face! Ah, so it seems somehow I find myself on the list of one of the best dressed guests on the night of the Harajuku Street Style launch at Tangs. Despite my crinkled blouse, the famous street style photographer Rei Shito must have seen something worthy to snap about right? Though I have to admit, this is the best I’ve dressed up in a while. Long while. So I’m glad and honoured to have my photo taken by the lady.

The whole point of this post is to make you go vote for me, ha! I’d appreciate it.

So to make this an official outfit post, here’s the deets to what I wore:
Blouse with bows from Zipia, high-waisted shorts from Bettina Liano, jazz lace-ups from F-Troupe and vintage briefcase from clevernettle, hamburger face from too much McD’s.

Seeing hearts

I got down to making a heart-shaped bokeh lens hood in the afternoon so naturally I roam to where the bright lights are to test it out.

Check, it works

Hmm, yay!

Peter pan collar blouse from French Toast, Muji pullover, Forever21 shorts, flats from Studio Tang

I have a feeling my lens isn’t awesome enough to do more than this but we’ll see what I can figure out.

New digs

I apologise for all the indoor shots, it’s been raining and I’m a nightmare at having my photo taken out in public. Look at my face here, this is when I’m about to give up after a million takes. Splat the fat face!

Anyway I’m wearing my new shirt from onepintplease, together with my new Baggu Duck Bag! My friend, Beks, sent this shirt my way and I’ve actually worn it many times now and LOVE it - just had one too many failed attempts at photographing me in it. The bag is my current throw-it-all-in-bag. The size is perfect and it has a strap as well as handles! I highly recommend it, a chrismassy present maybe?

Nothing much is new around here, except that my bf is growing out a goatee and I bought cat-grass which I just planted (for my cats to munch on). How’s everyone?

Sunday Out

Very early on Sunday morning (by my standards), I met Sarah to drop by Soon Lee to check out a new local label, Chalk. The incredible designer behind Chalk is Priscilla and I’ve known her since kindergarten through primary school! Her debut collection features girly dresses and some pieces ideal for office wear. Every piece is saccharine sweet and fun fun fun.

I really wanted the white dress in this photo but Sarah and I decided I would look like a tranny in it. I wish I was more of a lay-dy!

Here’s Priscilla in one of her own designs. Do go to her site and check out the entire collection! Or pop by Soon Lee, where her collection is available. {Hello hello to Sharon and Zann too!}

A cardigan from Soon Lee that both Sarah and I find cute

From Haji Lane, we made our way to CA California at Dempsey Hill.

Sarah’s unbelievably-real-looking headband

I had a Philly Beef Wrap

Because I took a photo of my outfit, I’m gonna shamelessly post it anyway. The dress is Laura Lees for Topshop, tights to hide my terrible bruises from floorball, vintage wingtips via ebay.

Lastly I want to welcome Sarah back to blogosphere! Her revamp is gorgeous and her photos inspiring as ever, go enjoy it!

Tonight, tonight

I didn’t eat all day so dinner had to be epic. Epic it was! We went to PS Cafe Harding because my brother’s a chef there and we wanted to try his specials!

My beetlejuice thigh-highs

Compliments from the chef oh! Fries with some awesome kind of cheese and I believe some truffle oil

I had the roasted rosemary lamb rack special, ugh so good! You know it’s good when you start cutting your meat into smaller and smaller pieces, in the hopes of prolonging the eating process.

Waiting for after-meal drinks

Playing around with cut-out paper, trying to recreate heart-shaped bokeh from scraps of receipts. Failed.

I didn’t manage to get proper shots, all of Dempsey was dark dark and dark. This chambray dress is from etsy and it came not too long ago, beetlejuice thigh-highs from Sock Dreams and vintage black boots.

Also! Don’t forget to participate in the giveaway that’s going on right now, it’s open to international readers as well!

I wish I had a fancier jacket

I went to see This Is It in the theatres last night and this was what I wore. You’d need a little imagination because of the poor lighting, I’ll guide you!
I have a vintage lace blouse from ebay on, on top I threw on a cardigan from Muji. My high-waisted shorts are from Bettina Liano, they look somewhat sailor-esque, with two buttons on the waistband. My jazz flats are from F-Troupe and the giant bow headband is from Modcloth.

Halloweeeeen!

I had such a good time, my friends were the best company! Whenever I think about it, I just smile from ear to ear. We saw some fabulous outfits, talked to many strangers and I know this is a weird comparison but Halloween night is so similar to being in a vet’s clinic ’cause you don’t need a reason to start a conversation.

Nabs was Strawberry Shortcake but we kept calling her Cupcake Princess all night long!

Sherms is Minnie Mouse with or without the costume, heehee. And this little boy wanted a photo with her so bad, it was as though we were in Disneyland!

(L-R) Cherie, Farah, myself and Mel - We went as webpages on an iMac

Loi was a confused sk8tergurl who wants to be a bear and Kenny was turned into an impromptu Harry Potter

Girls meeting Axl Rose and his abs!

Huzer blowing Tania who won best dressed for the night - Miss Blow Up Doll!

Jasper came as Andy Roddick

We met Chun Li in the washroom

And MJ

And Iron Man on the left!!

I have to add that despite partying real hard that night, we still won our floorball game the next day!
Sometimes I feel so old and so young at the same time, ah, age.

No hair new hair

Got my hair chopped off last week. It’s real short underneath, sorta like an undercut but not exactly. I don’t know how what hair terms to use to describe it. And there’s an overlapping layer of hair to cover it all?! Anyway it just means lesser time in the shower and getting (hair) ready, hurray!

Shirt is vintage from a local shop which name i cannot recall, black shorts from Uniqlo and flats from Cotton On.

Yay for Sarah

A new tote from Sarah! For me birthday!

I used it the very day she gave it to me. This was what i wore for a dinner and movie with my awesome friend, Caili.

Shirt from Wetseal, shorts from Playhound, the belt is secondhand and sandals from F-Troupe.

G’weekend ya’ll!!

60s

60s dress and brogues: vintage via ebay
vintage briefcase: purchased from Eileen
socks: Zipia

I’ve been keeping an eye out for a very mod 60s dress on ebay/etsy but no such luck yet.

And my friend, Niki, got me talking about Why I Lomo on her online art community Xhatch! I’m with good company alongside two fantastic dudes who lomo as well, you can read our lomo stories here!

Heart me tights

These tights, i have been coveting since i saw them on Rhiannon many many moons back. So when i received them from Modcloth i was over the moon! But then of course, i had to rip them that night. Slightly. Still wearable. Maybe for two more wears, we’ll see.

Dress is vintage from ebay, tights from Modcloth, F-Troupe jazz flats and vintage briefcase bag from clevernettle.

Zee strawberry dress

I interrupt posting of Bali photos with an outfit post. I’m way overdue on this and i feel so bad but the previous shots i had just didn’t encapsulate how awesome this dress makes me feel. (Think grumpy face, indoor shots)

Modcloth was very kind to let me pick out a few items and this ’strawberry’ dress is one of it. I call it strawberry because the print reminds me of them. And i love how fitted the bodice is (or perhaps i’m just top heavy!). So I took the dress along with me to Bali and made sure i got photos!

Wearing my blue head tie from etsy

I apologise for the lack of footwear, i was running around in Havaianas anyway.

Thanks Lindsay, thanks Modcloth!

Self-timer Shots

This was what i wore to the NDP Preview on Saturday. Running late + self-timer resulted in out of focus photo #1. But you get the idea! And photo #2, my new Jeffrey Campbell sandals which i love love <3.

B-b-b-buntings

I have those two lines hanging above our bed right now, in place of this poster that keeps falling off - no amount of blue tack keeps it staying put! And i can’t frame+hang it because our landlord wouldn’t be pleased with holes in his walls (boring~) but that’s okay i’ve come to terms with it now.

Anyway don’t you think it looks like a tribal queen’s collarpiece? Everytime i take a good look at it, i have the urge to use crayons to draw in some diamond-jewels, a great golden headpiece and i suppose a face to join it all up!

The whole point of this post is actually to ask if anyone would want one? I overestimated and made way too many triangles so now i have two extra strings of bunting. It’s nothing much really to say “hey giveaway!” but it’s a little too much bunting for my tiny home. So if you’d like one, leave me your email and i’ll send one over - wherever you are!

Also, Roberta Jane of Camp Comfort asked a wonderful bunch of bloggers to participate in her How I’d Wear It series, revolving around a cute pair of Topshop denim bottoms. My outfit is up on her blog today so do check it out! It was real fun, now i know why Polyvore exists.

All over the quays

I spent some time with my brother dearest and lil sister yesterday; we did lunch at Brewerkz followed by the Singapore River Cruise. My sister loves the boat ride so we pretended to be tourists and hopped on. I was snapping away with film so expect to see touristy singapore photos soon! Come evening, i was going to see The Unguarded Moment by Steve McCurry at ACM - it’s part of the Month of Photography Asia. So i put on something a little nice and drew my lips red.

80s Black Mini Dress from Liebemarlene Vintage, Briefcase Bag from Estate Sale, Sheer Hearts Sock from Betsey Johnson and Black Ballet Flats from StudioTangs

Onto the exhibition, (my bf didn’t take many photos due to the large crowd)

The famed ‘Afghan Girl’ - which i didn’t know anything about before i got there :}

The man himself, Steve McCurry, on the right. What a life he has lived, this man.

I’m not gonna say much about his photos, i’ve stopped trying to give my point of view on art because i know what i feel when i see each of them but haven’t got enough eloquence to put it into words. The colours on every of his photos is stunning though, stunning. Apparently his prints are printed using an Epson so i’m leaning towards an Epson now, when the time comes to buy a large-scale printer.

{Thanks Nabs for getting me to go!}
