Grimes is an amazing creature, you have to have to go see her if she plays a show where you live. This is a video-turned-gif of her playing Genesis last night at the Mosaic Festival. Sadly had to cut the gif down to a quarter of the length, damn you file size limits.
She closed with Phone Sex (that’s not on her album), so good to bounce around to.
We camped for four nights and the first night was literally hell for me ā Didn’t get to shower, surprise surprise Porta-potties don’t come with a flush and I was shivering like a wet dog inside my sleeping bag. The rest of the nights got easier, and number of layers I put on got heavier, showering time cut shorter… That’s a photo of our cars and us drying our towels on the windows! But it was impressive what people can do with the same space we had, people had grills, hot water going, DECOR?!, we even saw someone with white picket fences!?!? Only lots more to learn man.
But roughing it out was so worth it cos in the morning, you get out of the tent and you praise the sunshine, rub your eyes and bam, you are greeted by the most beautiful sight ever. Mountains… I don’t know if they’re considered mountains there but coming from Singapore, everything big is a mountain to me. I kept saying “omg, it’s postcard perfect”. Even if I didn’t say it out loud to my friends, I said it in my head.
The festival itself was out of this world. I’ve never been to anything so massive before. There were times when I wanted to go die from the cold and there were times when I wished I was 6’10 but I take all that back now, I’m so glad I was there to see all these bands and eat weird takes on asian food with sriracha š
This was Laneway Festival, two Sundays ago. Was also my first music festival experience and I learnt a thing or two about surviving. Definitely need to pace.ourselves.with.the.drinking. And now I also understand why people strongly urge others to HYDRATE on Coachella forums. Coachella 2012, I won’t be a stoner-face-noob.
These photos were trapped in my SD card, in a camera I never use, zipped up in a nondescript black camera bag, collecting dust on the shelf. I don’t know why I wrote that whole sentence. Sometimes I get so urgh about my things but there’s nothing to do about it.
I got a free ticket to go see the Stereophonics last night so I did. I love some of their songs but don’t love them as a band. Towards the end of the show, some fella threw a slipper at lead singer, Kelly Jones, and hit him on his face. Kelly stopped the song, picked up the slipper and held it to the crowd and said GOOD NIGHT and walked off the stage. It was weirrrrd and stupid of course, but more weird for me because I’ve never seen anything like this before!
But Kelly Jones is more of a champ than a rockstar – attitude wise – he came back on, finished the last few songs and thanked the crowd, da da da. And the other out-of-the-ordinary thing was hanging out with a 13-year-old the entire time. A friend brought his lil brother along. Kids actually say LOL in real life. Like ‘lol’. Weird. Word. Whoopee.
I’m going roller-blading with my friends in a bit, sk8terz!
