Eyeful

The last time I shared some scans was of the book Rock Faces and time sure goes by cos that was more than a year ago! And you guessed it right, new scanssss coming right up.

I finished Patterns by Orla Kiely yesterday and scanned A LOT of the book. It’s a very simple read about her career, her way of working and her brand, basically. Although I don’t identify that strongly with her brand’s aesthetic, there’s still so much to love about her work and her consistency. Plus it looks deceptively easy to make a pattern but we all know, the simplest designs are the hardest to achieve. I do want to quote something she said in the afterword, “Increasingly, I find myself considering the consequences and impact of producing products for an already cluttered world. My hope is that I am always associated with products that will be valued, cherished and not discarded.”

Now scroll away! The details are on Flickr so click on the images to find out more.

It would be nice to drink from this mug, don’t you think? I just can’t deal with costly international shipping.
