Saturday’s outing

Got out bright and early on Saturday and tagged along with a bunch of photo-crazy friends to explore Chek Jawa in Pulau Ubin. It’s an island away from Singapore, a very short ferry ride away. Where there are no high-rise buildings, no chain restaurants and no traffic lights, that sorta peaceful place.

I have a few more photos to share that I took using my SLR but these first, are taken with the Diana Mini using Kodak Gold 200. I won’t lie, my heart sank when I saw the photos, every single shot was shaky. It could either be the slow film speed plus the cloudy weather or my hands are really too big for the camera!

Anyway let me walk you through the photos.

On the ferry ride there

We rented bicycles and cycled to Chek Jawa

Stopped at an abandoned house

There’s no cycling allowed in Chek Jawa. You park your bicycles outside the checkpoint and go the rest of the way on foot. This photo above was taken along the coastal boardwalk, looking down at what I think is the coral rubble area.

This one was at the mangrove forest

Passed by the Balai quarry on our way back to where we started out

Just before leaving the island, we met a furry friend

There were so many creatures to peer at, it was pretty spectacular. Like the orange fiddler crabs with one giant claw, a wild boar walking in front of us and the biggest caterpillar all of us has ever seen. I’ll show you that in the next post!

Aww its a bummer that they came out blurry, but that sounds like a really fun little trip. Its always nice to get out of the normal places now and then and appreciate the outdoors! Besides, the shakyness kind of makes these more mysterious.. : )

I agree with Katrina, it all looks very impressionistic. I think the first photo is gorgeous, love the colours.
