Twigs+leaves

I had some pictures involving these twigs and leaves on the blog before, those were taken during the making process. I’ve finally finished them and they’re now available in my etsy store.

The idea behind it was initially to create a decorative piece that would have movement to it. I wish I could for the life of me remember the exact point in which this idea was conceived though it definitely was a mish mash of several things I was inspired back in November combined with the origami leaves I was already making. Essentially, they’re made out of real twigs, origami leaves, string, beads and some hemp. I kinda do really love them and felt a sense of achievement when I finally figured my way around executing the exact idea I grew in my head (I, for one, don’t always succeed in that area).

I could go on talking about them forever but I’ll shush now. Do let me know your thoughts your feelings anything in your comments? Would love and appreciate that. And oh, clicking on the images will take you to the etsy listing!

I LOVE the colors you chose. I think the first and second are my favorites, and I like how the second one has a diamond them in both the shape of the leaves and of the overall piece. Really nice idea you have here.

They remind me of those colourful mobiles that you hang above babies’ cots - these are the adults’ version.
I love the “fall” of the leaves best in the second one.
And the colours! Woo! The one with browns and orange are so Autumn. How about one with leaves in graduated shades of green for Spring? I love green!
I hope you sell loads! xx
PS. Love the texture of your wall!

melly, i love the first two! the colors are so perfect.

oh and i thought it’d be nice to photograph these not against a wall but hanging ‘free’ against some nice sunlight :) to catch the feeling of ‘movement’ more. heh.

i gotta admit i didn’t get you right away. they do look like they could beautify any spot - i like the colours. i appreciate the idea and your creation more after reading the descriptions on your etsy. i’m really thick like that. not thrashing myself but just stating facts. i tried to do interior decorating once in a retail job. i totally didn’t fit in.

i’m now so curious how they sound when a breeze passes thru them. well done, Melly!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPERB KIND WORDS!

likkle girl: Yeah one for Spring would be fun to make, I’m definitely considering expanding the series :D

zee: Initially, I did go out to the park to shoot them! The plan seemed simple in my head but when I got to the park, the wind was blowing from every angle and the leaves were spinning out of control! I totally am with you on this outdoor photoshoot but urgh, I couldn’t pull it off.

Oh dang! :( Well, maybe you could just try, downstairs of your block - just any patch with a green/tree-lined background? Hehe. Good luck with it, if you do intend to take more photos!
