Candy

Tonight i watched the film, Candy. The story is sad quite mortifying even excruciating at times but bearable to sit through because the leads are such beautiful faces. It’s seldom i take notice of movie sets when the script revolves around drugs + young lovers but this one had patterns nice textiles all over the scenes for you to peek your eyes at. I captured some stills to share, and if you would, share some films you enjoyed and think i would as well?

“We had a lot going for us. We’d found the secret glue that held all things together. Where the noise did not intrude. Our world was so very complete.”

You should watch Wendy and Lucy too. One of those silently loud types, makes you want to jump into the screen to help her because you can’t sit and watch in pain anymore.

Looks beautifully tragic. I love/hate these movies. Love because of the beauty and hate because it makes me feel all sad. The colors do look amazing though, might have to watch it!

I had this movie on my netflix queue for a while, but I took it off because… well, of all the celebrity deaths, Heath Ledgers was the one that I took the hardest — & I have no clue why! it’s not like I knew him personally, but for some reason, I was really traumatized.

Now that you’ve done an excellent post about this movie, I’m re-considering putting it back on my queue.

Question, though: is it like Requiem for a Dream? I will not watch that movie because I know it’s absolutely dreadful & sad. :[

wallfleur: o science of sleep was brilliant – stephan stephanie – i loved that part when they first got introduced to each other.

Katlin: my sentiments exactly, heartwrenching but i can’t say no.

haz: i am on a Heath rampage – trying to watch most of his films :]

apricot tea.: his death was too sudden + reckless maybe? hmm i never watched Requiem for a Dream cos the trailer made it look really abstract and arty – almost like Trainspotting. and i didn’t like Trainspotting. Candy is definitely not like that – something along the lines of a wilder Crazy/Beautiful.

Ooo, if it’s anything like crazy/beautiful, then it’s good. :]

I’m putting it on my queue, now. Thanks, love.

the stills you captured made me want to watch this more! I had initially thought that this is going to be like Trainspotting (and I didn’t like that one too) so I passed. How wrong could I be :p

have you watched My Life Without Me? it’s probably not in the same mood, but depressingly good, nevertheless.

i ought to give Trainspotting another go, i watched it when i was pretty young cos my brother had it on. all i rem was ewan mcgregor repeatedly climbing out of the toilet bowl!

i scribbled down My Life Without Me and will hunt it down, thanks for that :]

Oh, I’ll definitely have to track this one down. The screen captures alone make it seem quite haunting. & I’ve been wanting to see Wendy & Lucy. I know it takes place near here so that’s always a point of interest too.
