My attempt on the high waisted pencil skirt
Honestly i didn’t think i would be putting up pictures of myself on this blog but after seeing Sally Jane’s outfit here, i thought i’d try out my new pencil skirt i got from Closet Cupcake. Sally Jane obviously does it ten million times better than i do but what the heck, it’s my first pencil skirt and i’m gonna give it a shot. Thing is, when i was at my old job, all i wore was the next tshirt i could pull out of my wardrobe, squeeze into my skinny jeans and catch the bus in my Havaianas. Quite the ignorant fool so this year i kinda pledged to dress better all the time. I might look awkward in the pics and please excuse my hair!
White tee: Topshop Petites; Skirt: Proenza Schouler for Target; Belt: Came with the skirt; Grey Tights; Shoes: UO
I tried to have the skirt be above my natural waist but i get conscious of my chest sometimes. I’m not sure if top heavy girls aren’t supposed to even think about putting on high waisted clothing. Just like how they say to avoid capped-sleeves, which i feel is true. So i felt abit weird about it, i look like a librarian! So i tried on another belt.
I used a thicker grey belt and belted it below the skirt, leaving a gap. Not sure it’s clear in the pictures. I felt it made a difference in giving me more waistline, instead of a big stump. This time i tried it on with my oxford pumps which i’ve never worn out of the house.
Hmm, I think it turned out alright for me, i have to get used to looking a tad grown up that’s all. In any case, this is how i would prolly wear it out. Minus the tights and in flats.
Btw, if i do have another post like that, i’d make sure i take pictures in the day.
