Cecilia and her lace dress
Last weekend i found the time to watch The Virgin Suicides. I’m usually more of a print than screen person but the magic about film for me is the wardrobe. When i read the book (many years ago), imagining what the Lisbon sisters would be dressed in never occurred to me. Yeah that was a baggy-jean-wearing-Melly with track shoes. Well i was particularly charmed by Cecilia in the film, pretty ironic cos i was attracted to Lux’s character in the book. I’m blaming her lace dress because that’s all i can think about since that night. That’s all i search for on ebay. There’s no way i can pull off her innocence so i’m not even gonna try but this girl’s going into my book of girls – Wednesday Addams, Gwen Stefani (her No Doubt days), Claire Danes in R+J and so on…
If you’ve been like “whuut?’ during the whole chunk above, sorry!, here are some stills from the film. It’s all of Cecilia and her dress. I love it, i love how she wears it all the time and it’s grannyish but with some urg-yeah grunge rebellion thing going on. I don’t know, her boredom with life must give her more attitude.
I also put these together, some pieces to recreate Cecilia’s look.
1, 2, 4, 5 – i cant seem to find the cape on topshop.com but it’s selling for $99 if anyone’s asking.
